Does anyone out there have any good leads on the theories on Kennebec Man and the concept of pre-1000 AD European(ish) people migrating to North America?  Yes, I’m fully aware that it’s a wide matter of controversy.  Mormon theories not included.
Similarly, is there anyone out there who can give me a lead on the stability of Karst formations in, say ( Read more... )

I have that here. The problem with it seems to be that (of course) nobody has really decent info on precolumbian conditions, particularly things like population numbers, where tribes were at when, and so forth. It's highly colored, seemingly, by the internal prejudices of the people doing the research.

I mean, I've also been doing some research on the Lakota/Dakota/Nakota and when they came out of the East into Minnesota and the area west of that, and I've gotten about 16 different answers.

Or the spread of post-Columbian epidemics prior to, say, 1800.

What I'm looking for is an AH where there is a native population that is mostly 'European' and unbothered by Europe - a shamanistic culture, and based from migrants waaay back before (say) 2000 BC. Yes, I know such a setup would require two things - not many 'Indians', and no ships coming from elsewhere later. Both could have an antecedent single POD. You'd just have to work it out.

I know it is kinda off topic, but the movie Pathfinder seems to have been fairly well researched. It has Vikings coming over and trying to invade this continent.

I know it isn't out yet, but I had the occation to meet and talk with several of the designers of the film at FilmCon.

Well, we have the "X" clade in North America, the Baja California peninsula skulls, and Kenewick man.
Perhaps the Solutrian culture people came over before the native Americans and then the native Americans came over and wiped them out by disease the same way the Europeans wiped out the native Americans. The Solutrians may have been the people who lived in Europe before the modern Europeans moved in from what is now Turkey and points East. This was during the end of the ice age, and presumably they came along the edge of the arctic ice cap in canoes. Hunting, fishing, drifting, whatever.
