Nationals: the music

A skating meet is an odd collection of the senses and emotions, and a great crossection of raw human spirit. What follows are a few vignettes into what it’s like to be there.

Interesting window to a different world. Irish step dance competitions are heavy on traditional musical standards, as should be no surprise; but what annoys me is the limited and disco-esque nature of the stuff chosen when an Irish dance choreographer decides to get "wild" and "creative". "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" in particular wears thin after a brief while.

Agh. I would think that swing would be more popular in the competitions, but it isn't!
