Meredith came home early today sick to her stomach and running just under 100F; the H1N1 still isn’t available out here except a trickle with the public health departments, and there’s been some deaths with teenagers (usual serious swine flu symptoms).   I can’t take the live virus nose spray, and that’s all that’s available.

There seems to be a much higher than usual number of ordinary bugs going around; a few days after I finally got rid of the month-long "cold," it came roaring back.

H1N1 usually doesn't involve stomach upset as primary symptom. It's mostly respiratory. I've had it as have both my kids and a number of their friends, all confirmed diagnosis by a physician, and it wasn't that bad. Honestly other than the high fever, we've all had worse colds. I have diabetes and high blood pressure and didn't get it that bad. I did start on Tamiflu as soon as my 1st child was diagnosed though as did my husband. He didn't get sick at all. We have the vaccine currently available for free at school and most parents are opting not to get their kids vaccinated. Statistically more people die from regular flu every year than from the swine flu. The media just doesn't focus on that. I hope Meredith is feeling better quickly!
