The infectious disease guy and I had a set-to over future treatment; he wants to do things lighter and shorter, and I made it bloody clear that I had had *enough* of hospitals and infections, and I wanted him to blow the bug up real good and dead and make sure it’s Dead Dammit, and to stop forgetting that I’m immunocompromised.  So he didn’t put me ( Read more... )

I totally agree that healthy weight = healthy person.

But it has been shown that at least one person responsible for linking obesity to sleep apnea (and apparently other ailments), was lying. http://www.boston.com/news/health/blog/2009/04/doctor_says_he.html

It's a kind bad news/good news when you hit the catastrophic limit - especially in June. It does help not to have all the copays, which do add up.

Did I ever mention that Bactrim is the only drug I've ever had a bad reaction to? It gave me extreme mood swings--and I'm normally the opposite of that. When I reported this, my doctor looked it up in the PDR, and by golly, there it was--an uncommon but not unknown side effect. Sounds not too radically different from its effect on you.

As always, I wish you well with all of this.

Yeah - it's not mood swings, it's more can't-think-straight-can't-remember sort of things. Think tired and generally blitzed enough that remembering your to-do list is like chasing fireflies.

I get tired of hearing that every single problem that I have will be magically cured if I lose weight. I had sleep apnea when I was thinner, and nobody noticed. I've gained weight because of the diabetes meds, so they can be quiet about that one, and the allergies and asthma will not go away if I dump all the pounds. The only reason I want to lose is because I want to start trail riding.

Did you hear they did a study and found out that people who were 10 to 20 lbs "overweight" lived longer and were healthier? Sounds to me like "normal" needs to be moved up by about 20 lbs.
