A different perspective, as pig farmers are finding out that the swine flu may not kill them, but it’s doing a lot of damage to their pigs…or rather, that people are scared to buy pork and catch That Really Big Disease.

I still find it astounding that this is happening. Did people stop eating chicken when the avian flu was threatening? Did they stop eating Spaniards in 1918?

Actually, I think I remember a lot of people did stop eating chicken in the avian flu panic. And the market for Spaniard meat hasn't recovered even now. At least, I can't find it in any of the local supermarkets.
