As a Person of the Illinois Persuasion, I see no reason why we should pay for volcano sensors in Louisiana, or landslide detectors on the Chicago beaches, or hurricane detectors in Alaska. And protecting polar bears in Florida is just wrong.

I remember a big to do about a tremor when I lived there. I missed it as I was on the bus on Lake Shore Drive at the time. It did seem to me that the ride was much smoother than usual, they must have canceled each other out.

The EPA conducted a emergency test a short while back as to what-would-happen if New Madrid kicked loose. My thought on THAT is that I don't want me or my wife in the EPA Loop offices if *that* happens. Downtown is asking for trouble, IMHO, if New Madrid kicks loose.
