Palin did place it on eBay, all right.  Alaska had paid $2.7 million for it for her predecessor,

He's a politician. If you went from "not sold" to "sold" then the sell price is profit. Just like changing next year's budget increase from 100 million to 80 million is the same as cutting the budget by 20 million.

From David Gregory's show on MSNBC, I learned that the buyer is a Republican donor. That may just be coincidence.
