[Translation]Duet 05.2012 Hokuto+Shintaro
These two seem to make a nice pair, even if they're not quite as iconic as the more frequently seen Hokuto+Yuugo and Shintaro+Juri (or Shintaro+Taiga) combinations. Gotta wonder why Shintaro is randomly holding a pen though (≧∇≦). Also, the stylists for the different magazines really like giving Hokuto accessories; it feels like his costume always includes a bunch of bracelets o(≧▽≦)o. Anyways, the topic, like the rest of the interviews from this month's issue of Duet, was school. They had the same questions as all the other juniors and gave some good answers. My personal favorites were their responses to what they'd do if they fell in love with a girl as their school.
Hokuto Matsumura: [Favorite School Subject] Mathematics II. Because it’s really easy, since I’ve just begun (smile). Also music class, where I can shout out loudly. [Hated School subject] Chemistry. I don't get chemical formulas at all. I can say stuff like “suiheribe,” but I can’t think of what that thing is. [Favorite School Lunch] I eat a huge helping of sansai soba {buckwheat noodles with mountain vegetables} pretty much every day. At 300 yen, it’s dirt cheap! [How Break Times Are Spent] Getting together with my friend and eating at a leisurely pace. [Goal For This Year] I want to take hold of my lifestyle’s pace and defeat drowsiness. When the clock strikes 9 PM, I naturally get sleepy, and can’t study, or do my hobbies, or anything (tears). [Club Participation] The club I want to try joining is track-and-field clubs. The high-jump and stuff like that looks super fun! [How To Study Before A Test] I’m the cramming type. I earnestly look, write, and read rom about two weeks before the test, and then once I’ve taken it, all the information leaves my head! [Interesting Place At School] The bench on front of the elevator. We meet up there and eat. . [The Enjoyable Part Of Getting To-And-From School] talking to my friends as we go to school. The station that we enter at is different, so I match their train’s timetable and get on the same one. [Interesting School Supplies] I habitually use a metallic mechanical pencil that’s thick-and-heavy. [What if you fell in love with a girl at your school] I’m really shy, so I probably couldn’t start anything, I don’t think… But I could become her friend! And then, I’d want to continue having a relationship that was more than friendship, but less than being boyfriend-girlfriend. However, I’d probably casually chase away any boys that tried to come close to her (smile).

The way you can use formulas to solve any problem is interesting! [Hated School Subject] Science and social studies. I’m bad with memorization. But I can remember my lines for dramas. [Favorite School Lunch] Karaage fried chicken. But at my middle school we don’t have school lunches, everyone brings a bento packed lunch. [How Break Times Are Spent] Talking to my friends, or playing tag outside. [Goal For This Year] I’m aiming to raise my overall G.P.A.! I won’t aim too high (smile). This is the last year I have left as a middle school student, so I want to make memories with my friends as much as possible. [Club Participation] I’m a member of the gymnastics club. The other day we went to an “away” competition, and it was fun using to do gymnastics using professional equipment that we don’t have at our middle school. [How To Study Before A Test] For subjects relating to mathematics, I determinedly memorize equations. For other subjects, I don’t do anything in particular, and just exhibit my natural competency (smile). [Interesting Place At School] Around the heater during the winter, and in front of the air condition during the summer. [The Enjoyable Part Of Getting To-And-From School] Right as you exit the school, there’s a sloooooow, gentle incline. I like earnestly dashing up it as I go home.
