This photoshoot featured four juniors: Jesse Lewis, Akatsuki Hanzawa, Keigo Hagiya, and Hokuto Matsumura. They paired up (JessexHanzawa, HagiyaxHokuto) to talk about fate and true love. The conversations ended up being quite cute and romantic, with Jesse and Hanzawa denying that they're lovey-dovey despite the evidence and Hagi-chan and Hokuto talking about what "fated love" really means. Each boy also talked about what his ideal girl is. They each like a different type, so I'll leave it to you to read and decide which junior's ideal you fit! I really liked the theme and color scheme of this interview, although whomever dressed Hokuto went a little bit overboard with accessories. Translated for
king_kun, thank you for always sharing scans. Also, please note that in Japanese culture, it is believed that a “red thread” ties together two people who are destined to fall in love, and that you’re forever connected to your true love by said thread. It’s actually mentioned in the lyrics of “Love Addiction” by Keiichiro Koyama.
Is It Destiny?
These crosstalks are about meeting by chance, the red thread of fate, and more things connected to “destiny.” These 4 wonderful boys believe that you create your own fate with your own two hands ✭
With our fated meeting, the two of us are lovey-dovey?!
Hanzawa: Lately it’s been said that Jesse and I have been flirting in many different places (smile), so what should we do? Should we go in that direction with our conversation?
Jesse: Well, that also has to do with fate, so it’s alright, isn't it? (smile) Surely it was god who made it so that we met by chance.
Hanzawa: I see, thus, in this way, it was our destiny to become juniors together at this time.
Jesse: Exactly, yeah.
Hanzawa: If we keep talking like this, people will misunderstand us (smile).
(Juri Tanaka: You two are lovey-dovey, aaaaren’t you ♥)
Jesse: We are not lovey-dovey! (smile) You could just say that it’s fun playing tag together, or something…
Hanzawa: Our senses of humor are similar. That’s why it’s fun to be together.
Jesse: That’s exactly what it is! Hanzawa, what do you think the meaning of a fated true love is? Do you believe in the “red thread” of fate?
Hanzawa: Yeah, I believe in it. Jesse gives off the feeling that he’s attached to a cheerful, positive type of girl by the red thread.
Jesse: Ahhh, without a doubt that sort of girl would be good. Because I want us to energetically get worked up together. Hanzawa, you know, it seems like when you get attached by the red thread of fate to your girl, you’ll be mutually dependent on each other. Does that sound right?
Hanzawa: That sort of person would be good. As expected of Jesse, you know me well.
Jesse: Don’t I? (self-satisfied smile) Then, our current status. Right now we're rehearsing for ABC-Z’s stageplay, but wasn’t there some sort of occurence?
Hanzawa: Before you arrived, when we were practicing the staged swordfight, Juri fell down really hard (smile).
Jesse: He was that into the practice! (smile)
Having an unsatisfying romance is practice for meeting your fated person
Hokuto: This time the two of us will have a conversation! The theme is “fate.” Hagi-chan, do you believe in “predestined love”?
Hagiya: Yeah, for example, if you were in love with a girl in kindergarten but got separated from her when you moved away, and then, one day, as an adult you met again by chance, something like that (smile). It’s cliché, but I long for finding my fated love in a situation like that.
Hokuto: I also believe that my fated love is waiting for me somewhere, absolutely.
Hagiya: But sometimes there are times when even though you think it’s fate, the love ends up being unsatisfying.
Hokuto: Times like that are practice for when you meet your true love.
Hagiya: In the future, when I meet the true love who will become my wife, I wonder what kind of person she’ll be.
Hokuto: My fated person will probably be reliable and level headed. A girl who at first glance looks like she can’t manage household tasks at all but is really an awesome cook, someone with a gap like that, would sure be nice~ (smile).
Hagiya: Gaps, they’re nice~.
Hokuto: When I think of Hagi-chan’s true love, I think of a girl who tries her best, but is clumsy and not very good at cooking. Then Hagi-chan would say something like: “let me try lending you a hand~” while helping her out with the household chores.
Hagiya: If I could do that, it would be good, but I actually can’t do anything (smile) Ah, but I like girls who depend on me, so the girl I love will have some flaws, without a doubt.
Hokuto: If you’re talking about fate, it’s also our fate to get the opportunity to appear in “ABC-Z Star!” The members of ABC-Z putting a lot of effort into making a great stage-play, and that’s really cool so I’m liking them more and more.
Hagiya: The 5 of them each have different perspectives, don't they? We are also striving with all our might to embody them as well!
