Paul Ryan is Romney's VP nominee choice

Aug 10, 2012 21:57

Unless Romney is conducting some massive head fake (for no apparent reason), he has chosen Paul Ryan as his VP and will announce said choice on the USS Wisconsin in Virginia at 9:00 AM tomorrow (Saturday).

Unfortunately, it appears that Wisconsin law allows Ryan to run for both Vice President and his House seat simultaneously.

Poll

romney, wisconsin, paul ryan, 2012 election

The thing is, compared to whom? Because of Romney's Mormanism, it pretty much had to be a White, Protestant from a conservative denomination. Ryan has more different negatives than Pawlenty or Portman, but the picking were slim.

Pretty much seals the deal for Obama. Excellent choice!

I didn't answer the poll, because it didn't say "good choice for who"? Seems to me that this has to be good for Obama.

Dumb choice, Ryan will appeal to the people who were already going to vote vor Romney anyway. Ryan is a symbol of Republican obstructionism, which lots of people despise. Ryan's budget proposals target the poor and the elderly, so those groups are less likely to vote for Romney as a result of the pick. Hard to see how this choice improves Romney's chances.

Mitt's all-in with a suited connector.

Mitt can take solace in that he didn't run KQ into AK like McCain did.

Good in what sense?

I think he will hurt Romney's chance for election, marginally. I think he'll probably do a decent job as a VP.

The definition of 'good' in this context was left to the poll responder's discretion.

Need I really note that there is almost no one in this country who wouldn't do a "good job" as VP, since the only requirement is to occasionally bang a gavel in the Senate and break ties (although he/she doesn't even really have to do either of those things). And then there is the expectation that he/she will show up at state funerals.

At least we are fairly certain that Ryan cannot see Russia from his house. So that is something.

I love the fact that it's almost impossible to tell "Sarah Palin parody" from "Sarah Palin".
