As a resident of NY State I'd love to see the same sex marriage bill pass. However....Even the gov. admits it probably won't. This time. Too many (republicans) members of the Senate who think it's blasphemy and wrong and against God's law.

Sigh.

It looks like Alaska is headed in the right direction, though.

Actually, not exactly true: there are too many Democratic members of the Senate who think it's blasphemy and wrong and against God's law. If all the Dems voted for it it would pass regardless of how the Reps voted.

One of the State Senators, a sponsor of the legislation from last year, IIRC, claims he has enough Republican votes to pass the measure if it can be brought to a vote despite the Dems who will vote against it.

If I commuted by Metroliner to NYC or DC, it would cost me about $12k/year. If I had a job where I could defray half my travel time by working on the train, I would consider commuting from my Philly suburb to either of those places. [And would probably find more meaningful work]
