spn fic: a comforting lie can't last (krissy/claire)

Running late with this again, because I picked a really hard prompt. WTF, self.

And I finally actually looked it up and Superwiki informs me that it's Krissy and not "Chrissy." I miss the whole C-theme we had going on here. OH WELL. *changes tag*

Title/Rating: a comforting lie can't last, PG
Characters/Pairings: Krissy/Claire
Prompt: illusion
Spoilers/Warnings: 7.11 (Krissy exists!)
Summary: She has to fight the urge to run every day. Future!fic. 200 words.

She goes to college. She gets a scholarship and an apartment and, as far as anyone else can tell, she's just like them. Normal.

She has to fight the urge to run every day. She dreams of the open road and the weight of a gun in her hand, but she knows this is a better life. She puts one foot in front of the other and keeps going, ignoring the voice that tells her she's living a lie - it won't last and maybe, deep down, she doesn't want it to.

She meets Claire halfway through her freshman year. Krissy's instinct tells her there's something off about the girl, but whatever it is, she'll never know. They get closer and by the time summer rolls around, Claire's moving in, but they both keep their secrets well.

She thinks Claire would come with her if she asked. Some days she spaces out, lies on the grass and watches the sky, like she'd fly away if she could. She's smart, brave. They'd make a good team.

She never asks.

She puts on foot in front of the other and keeps going.

She wants this lie to last as long as it can.
