Joy, the priorities that change when you have children. I currently go to the YMCA and the childcare is excellent (and free). They also offer all kinds of mommy and me classes. I just signed Judson up for a swim class to take with me. These peoples are pros. There an older woman at the Y that Judson loves. He goes right to her, no fussing. Gavin loves everyone right now, but that ends around eight months. Do the rec centers offer anything? I took Gavin for his 6 month appointment yesterday and he is 17 pounds 10 ounces and 27 3/4 inches long, in the 80th percentile. I think Van sounds perfect and we cannot wait to see him and love on him. Gavin is excited to have his buddy come visit. Love, Aunt Jen

I don't know how she does it, especially because her husband is out of town 5 days a week. . .though that may be a blessing in disguise. . . She invited me to her mommy group, and I've been going ever since (when I can, that is). While it's great to have this community, and I'm not at all complaining, there is definitely a lack of intimacy in the conversations with these other moms that I haven't quite figured out yet. It's always about re-doing kitchens and how to baby-proof the house and rarely about emotional or deeper seeded issues. It may have to do with city-dwelling-- everyone has to keep ( ... )
