My god, I don't know why I go to anon-memes occasionally. It always leaves me feeling desperately sad and like I should probably never write again. And they aren't even talking about my stories! WHAT. was I thinking. Too thin-skinned for the internet, I guess ( Read more... )

poeelektra and I were a matter of YARDS from Kaner when he scored that goal!!! And then we stood up and bellowed Chelsea Dagger with the rest of the 21K people at the UC. It was aaaaaaaaawesome.

*shudders* the anon meme. :( The first time I found myself being disembowelled there my reaction was to want to stop writing, and to take all my fic down. It's sort of unutterably horrific to know that that shit's being said behind one's back. I've managed to stay off it since then, though I've had some close calls when I was depressed and thought 'I just need to know what people really think of me,' like the shit-talk is more real or valid than people enjoying the fic.

There are writers in this fandom who have a way of creating a reality that remains incredibly vivid in my mind, and I know I'm forgetting a bunch, but here are some:

addandsubtract's band AU concentrating on falling apart which has insinuated itself even more into my psyche because it's got a soundtrack that tears me apart, particularly the tracks that are the songs ( ... )

YAYYYYYY for your witnessing of the powerplay goal! Man, I'd love to see a game live this season. I know some people are going to one of the Sharks/Hawks games this season, and maybe I'll try to get in on that ( ... )

I don’t have anything resembling an organized list of fics, so, off the top of my head:

Wolves on Ice by Calliotrope. Weerewolves! I like the different dynamics, and the variety of pairings: Sid/Geno, Eberle/Hall/Nugent-Hopkins, Kane/Toews, Skinner/Eric Staal/Tanya Staal, etc.

Des Plus Brillants Exploits by twentysomething. Girl!Sid/Geno. At the Vancouver Olympics. They’re just lovely in this one.

Tour de Force by thehoyden. I just love all of them obsessed with a book, it’s so cute.

Write Our Names on the Wall by twentysomething. This is always-a-girl!Kaner, and it’s just delightful. By the time I finiched it, I was “but I want to be her frieeeennnd ( ... )

Oh man, those stories are all great too. Some of those are my comfort re-reads, for sure, starting first and foremost with "Tour de Force." Oh, and a light-handed approach to regulation, and a bunch of other stuff I probably need my ipod touch to really remember.

Also, every time I reread "Write Our Names on the Wall" I'm reminded that I would read a bazillion sequels to that story. ALL THE SEQUELS. ALL OF THEM.

ABSOLUTELY. Girl!Kane is often a thing of beauty, and that universe? I want to know all about it (Kane with the rookies! the Cups! etc etc).

There're so many fantastic fics in this fandom, it's amaaazing.
