EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE

Sep 20, 2013 19:20

OH GOD I REGRET THESE TRAVEL PLANS. I also sort of regret stopping at this restaurant and getting wine spilled on my sleeve and also my bag such that they gave me a free flight that I then drank, but not as much as I regret having ever booked these travel plans. PLANE. DELAYED. HATE EVERYTHING. Fingers: a little fuzzy ( Read more... )

Preseason hockey is weird in so many ways. Children you've never heard of playing on lines with Jonathan Toews and Sidney Crosby. Fights with which said children try to "earn a place on the team," which makes me nuts. Non-televised games. Games that don't count but where people get injured. But it's ~hockey and omg, it's so much better than last preseason, which didn't even exist.

I may have loved the Pens longer, and I may be a Jackets season ticket holder, but my love for the Hawks knows no bounds. I have great hopes they can repeat this year, even though everybody says that's a thing that can't happen in this day and age.

I hope your travel experience improves, or at least doesn't get any worse.

I did eventually make it to Portland! Fingers crossed that my flight back to Oakland on Monday morning goes more according to schedule...

The Hawks kiiiiind of seem like they're starting out a bit injured this year, which is never good news for them, so we'll see? I have high hopes for a repeat, though! They aren't THAT different of a team this year from last year, though each season is so....random. FOR EXAMPLE: the Kings were EXACTLY the same team in 2013 as 2012 and that of course had quite a different outcome. Not that this is at all news to you, but I do love the sound of my own voice!

It is actually really great! And, guess what, the organization I do tai chi with totally has classes in NYC. Check it out if you want, I know someone who recently moved from there and said it's a really great group. You can generally drop into a class anywhere in the first month of the start of the sequence and not have to work too hard to catch up.

I did EVENTUALLY get to Portland! AIR TRAVEL. SO TERRIBLE EXCEPT FOR ALL THE ALTERNATIVES.

Well, the Hawks got very banged up last season, especially playing those eternal games against the Bruins. But they're very focused and very well managed, so I have high hopes for a repeat. if it isn't this year (which I'm not ruling out), it'll be soon.

It'd be kind of awesome if Brandon Bollig kept it up. Like, "hey, even the not-so-great players in the Hawks are getting into it" :P
