Yesterday I went out with Matt in the squishy, chilly, nice rain to catch squishy, chilly, nice BIG salamanders. We caught 2 spotted salamanders and 1 slimy salamander. Actually, it was mostly school districts in other states, so I didn't even feel the need to talk to those folks, as I am not looking to move. They were looking for recent education grads who wanted a job anywhere they could find it. I did ask some questions- Alabama does not do alternative certification, so in order to get a teaching job here I would have to either go back to school or work for a private school- if I could convince them. I wouldn't want to start working until the fall anyway, as I have a job in April, so I wasn't going expecting to get a job, just to get my mind flowing. And it has- it seems like my best bet might be to either work for one semester as a lab instructor at the local community college (or for one of the biology departments at A & M or UAH- which I could go and talk with them a little later, as now is a bit too soon.) While I was reworking my resume, I also got to thinking about all of the cool research I've been involved in and how much I liked it, and got more psyched about the possibility of a PhD and ( ... )
