Today HMS Joyful Molly, with Ms. Emma Collingwood at the helm, set sail to join the Battle of Ye Olde Auctionhouse. We were determined to free Old Cuddy’s diary and carry it to safety (the National Maritime Museum or some other place where the public would have had access).

Sounds like a hard pressed engagement, admirably fought. You've done his lordship right proud, whatever the outcome. I hope the new owner appreciates the public value of their new treasure and is generous enough to share the contents for posterity.

I sincerely hope so! I think the NRS may already have tried to contact the new owner to request a transcript. I hope they have some success.

Btw thank you for my lovely ships cat! I have been bereft of feline company for too long, so he is very gratefully appreciated indeed.
