G.A.W. (Ginger Appreciation Week), Day 6: Red-headed girls

Feb 25, 2012 20:33

Girls, stopy dying your hair; how on earth am I supposed to tell who's ginger and who's not? But bottle-red or not, here are some very lovely redheads for you.

Dissing singer Adele is the hip thing to do, because she's successful, makes a lot of money and doesn't give a flying fig what people think about her. Success + woman = instant whinging and ( Read more... )

Lovely! I must bookmark this and show it to my daughter if she ever starts to suffer from ginger angst. She is still only six and is happily unselfconscious about her copper coloured hair. Sadly though she has already said that she is worried she will look silly when she grows up because "grown up ladies don't have curly hair" :( I've already shown her pictures of Alex Kingston in an attempt to reassure her that there are indeed grown up ladies with ginger curly hair and they are fabulous!

I have miserable mousy hair and actively seek to get my hair gingerized as often as possible. Your daughter will be fab.u.lous!

Curly hair is great, where did she pick up that this is not the case? Gah, I HATE IT when even little girls are already put under some sort of fashion and beauty dictate. I'm absolutely sure she looks lovely now and will look even lovelier in her teens. I'd given half an arm for curly hair!

Of ginger singers, Florence Welch is my Ginger Heroine. I love that she has a voice that can reach the cheap seats at the top of the stadium, and she doesn't do tan-orexia ;-)

I saw Isla Fisher in a few things and she's a lovely actress.

I like Adele alot. I can't remember any of Lana Del Rey's songs, but - my God! The audacity! The cheek! creating a stage persona? How very dare she?

WORD to Maggie Smith and Susan Sarandon.

This week was INSPIRED!

It seems to be the rule that women, as soon as they have success, need to be bashed, mostly with attacks on their looks. I'm not one to yell "mysogynists!" on every possible occasion, but it's something I notice a lot.

It seems to me to be anyone that gains success, not just the girls - although I think girls have it worse. One Direction/any XFactor or similar talent-show act that has success and actually stays successful gets no amount of flak just because of their success. It's sour grapes.

Ah, gorgeous! I love freckles, unfortunately, they don't love me. Not one freckle in sight. *sigh* My best friend, however, only needs to look out of the window and the sun is shining, and she's freckled all over. The woman in the picture is absolutely stunning.

They are; though I'm a dedicated ginger-aficionado, I was surprised how many different shades there are, and I've left out all strawberry blondes.

I love seeing all the different shades of red hair. (Well, I love seeing all different shades of any hair color, but red hair especially.) :)

All colours are great, but red is special. I'm biased, though, as I was born a redhead (unfortunately, that didn't last very long).
