G.A.W. (Ginger Appreciation Week), Day 2: The Classic Hollywood Gents

As a red-haired actor, your chances to be casted exclusively as "funny man" in Classic Hollywood were big. That, or "funny drunken Irish man". Weird how stereotyping works - nowadays, all bullies, sociopaths or otherwise unpleasant kids on telly seem to be ginger.

Let's start with one of my dearest - the ever lovely Danny Kaye!

Here's some info, though it's not correct that it was a German/French production, it was German/French/Swiss, and Lukas Ammann who played Graf Yoster comes from my hometown. He was a friend of my father, and I still remember being extremely impressed as a little girl that we had a real lord sitting in our living room! :-D

My dad had a small screen appearance in the series; it's a scene on a cemetary - of course! - and you can see him for three seconds.

Andersen! Yay! Gods, I loved that movie, and to this day, HCA looks like Danny Kaye to me (one couldn't be further from the truth!) It's no surprise children loved him so much. :)

Very yummy. Looking at all those guys, I feel today's cinema is not really quite on par...
