Garrow's Law axed: The Pox on you, BBC!

Feb 04, 2012 22:45

I return from the cinema (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - excellent, highly recommended!) to find the news in my mailbox that my beloved Garrow's Law has been axed.

While I’m aware that the source for this devastating news is The Sun and therefore everything has to be taken with at least four grains of salt, I still have to say

CURSE YOU, BBC!

so Danny can bring in new shows like Call The Midwife.
Oh really? Never heard of it...Anyway, I can deal with more than one quality show.

It wouldn't really help to make one's displeasure known to the gentleman man?

CTM is okay... But I'd have survived having more than one good drama on the box. :-(

It's the biggest rating hit for the BBC in ten years. Decent drama, but of absolutely no interest to me. I'm considering writing a letter asking why on earth he considers yet another idiotic game show as "better" than Garrow's law, but that will only end up in the big round file which gets emptied every day.

That's soooo rubbish! What would the BBC be without its quality period dramas?? Nothing, is the simple answer. Hope the Sun is as erroneous about this as they usually are about other facts!

The new commissions clearly show that Danny Cohen thinks "period drama" is "20th century". With a bit of "luck", we'll get once a year the 8096346th Austen or Dickens adaptation. VERY disappointed.

FINE. *sulks* I'll be over here, writing ALL the fanfic. *sulk sulk sulk* If they won't give me more stories, I'll just have to make my own.

You'll have to forgive the ignorant American in the corner here, especially as I have a very bad cold (am greatly enjoying your present of Ricola, though), but is BBC the ONLY network in Great Britain? Sometimes when a popular show gets axed over here in the States, another network will pick it up.

I hope you've recover from your cold; that bloody thing is doing the rounds and very persistent. *sends chicken soup* Glad the Ricola is of some assistence!

I can't remember that this would have happened; you sometimes have shows being successful on BBC2 or BBC3 moved to BBC1, but as the BBC has axed it, there's no chance for that. It's a shame, really; I think many channels would be grateful to have drama collecting 5 million viewers despite heavy concurence from highly popular shows.

Well hell. That's damn shame.

I know it’s hard to believe, but some members of the audience can actually cope with more than one quality drama per year.
*blush* Garrow's Law actually was the only show I watched on tv last year!

With Garrow's Law and Being Human being... not Being Human anymore, my TV times are limited drastically, especially as there seem to be fewer and fewer documentaries I'm interested in.
