Dear People On The Radio

I can't imagine that you never had any English lessons in your life, but just in case, here's some information which you might find helpful.

The following are not "romantic love songs", no matter how often you announce them as such:

Bobby Brown by Frank Zappa
"I got a cheerleader here wants to help with my paper
Let her do all ( Read more... )

rant, one of those issues, wtf

it's a song all about how stupid it is of people to celebrate Christmas

The DJ's not getting that sort of proves their point... argh! And they don't have the excuse of English being second language!

Then there's "Do they know it's Christmas Time" praised as "our traditional happy sing-along song". Ugh.

Can I share your annoyance?

I know that there are more important issues in the world
Considering that two of these lyrics are really about violence and oppression I'm not sure there are more important issues in the world! (Not that anything would induce me to listen to U2 voluntarily...)

But... but... Bono! He's saved the world! He's a saint! *snark*

I love the early U2 stuff, but by now, they've become the musical equivalent of Nestlé. *hugsrecordofjushuatree*

Sunday, Bloody Sunday was composed as Bono's reaction to one of the worst IRA atrocities - in WHAT UNIVERSE does that constitute a romantic love song? Blergh.

Then again, maybe they were requested by people for romantic reasons eg, it was playing when they met?

I'm afraid the people working at that radio station have no idea what "Bloody Sunday" was. I doubt they ever heard of the IRA. I sometimes wonder if they've ever read a paper or even attended school. It's really embarrassing.
