It depends on the legend, but in general, "water fairy" would probably be the most suitable description, be it lake, sea or river. The German world would be "Nixe", but for that, the English translation is "mermaid". We're not nitpicky here, it's all mermaids to us! ;-)

You wanna know what's awesome? How the idea that Gillette is rankled by Groves' promotion above him is that I have been toying with a similar idea in pre-CotBP era that Gillette was passed over for Capt. as Norrington was the one who got the promotion due to his political connections. Gillette had always harbored a resentment towards James, even throughout CotBP and finally requested a transfer off the Dauntless because he couldn't stand James and his obsession anymore and that is how he managed to survive into the forth movie. And now Gillette gets to be haunted in his dreams by James on the HMS Providence's way to the Fountain. Such sweet angst, bitter resentment, and repressed sexuality.

Poor Gillette, always gets the short end of the stick... somebody should write a story about him getting promoted before Norrington. I can't remember a story with reversed roles, can you?

Brilliant and hilarious as usual! Why oh why didn't they hire you instead of the everlasting T&T duo? Would have made for a fantastic fourth film instead of the 2h20min dravel one endured for some rather unknown reasons.
