People are all different. They come from different countries, they are different colors, they speak different languages, they wear different clothes. But like the colors in the rainbow, we all go together. We have a big parade to show how proud we are of who we are, and that we are happy that everyone is different.
(And if needed, "And some people are poopy heads and don't like other people, just because they're different. So we have a big parade to show them that we're all just people and we can all be friends.")
But really, it wasn't necessary. He didn't much care *why* we were in a parade, he just figured it was all for him. :) I might need to start explaining next year, but for now it was just a fun day out. I'm just glad he's too young to ask questions about the giant inflatable penis.
