He'd packed his own bag, and had it strapped diagonally across his chest and hanging at his hip when he pushed her office door open and peered inside, beaming like a kid in a candy shop as he called "♫Eiileeeen♪", her name a joyful cry of un-adultered happiness as he looked around for her, only to smile with a grin splitting his face from ear to ear when he finally laid eyes on her.

"Are you ready? It's time to go!" He ran across the room and wrapped her in his arms, spinning her around as he laid a firm and delirious kiss on her mouth, murmuring softly "Happy Birthday, finally." He was clearly excited to see her, to finally go, to spend a whole day and night alone with her in Spain, away from parental supervision, and treating her like a queen ( ... )

The files are tossed down the moment he peeks his head in, her own face lighting up into a cautious smile. One last chance for everything to go wrong. One last moment holding back her heart.

Except that it's CJ, so of course he comes bouncing in with a smile like sunshine, swings her around with a kiss that still manages to leave her a little breathless as she clings to his shoulders. Of course he's here to whisk her away for a day and a night just for themselves. Of course he hasn't changed his mind or vanished in a puff of smoke.

She'll never stop worrying, likely. She'll never not get lost in her own mind and her own panic and her own ingrained fear of losing the people she loved suddenly, painfully. But it's easier to worry less when she's actually in his arms.

"Of course I'm ready. My bag's by the door. Right now?"

"Yes, ahora! We don't want to be late for our seats." It was a good thing traveling in and out of the deck was kind of easy, they could arrive in Valencia without having to worry about driving or flights or things like that. They could just walk out and be there, in the midst of the day, of the city ( ... )
