Hillsborough, North Carolina is a small town with a core historic district. Its about ten minutes away from Chapel Hill. As is typical of most places the dense historic downtown area is surrounded on all sides by a little bit of sprawl ( Read more... )

That IS a fun indexing factor isn't it? If you have a close community that feels safe and is open you will have a better trick-or-treating experience ( ... )

Well and if you're concerned about safety I guess you could consider walking around with your kids at night. But y'know, its cold, and then you'd have to dress up, and then you'd have to experience just how unwalkable the neighborhood you chose to spend half a million bucks on is - so that your kids could grow up in a 'good place' I might add.

Hey, your car is kinda like your home anyhow, right? P)

re: brown shack. That makes perfect sense! I wonder where he's planning on putting it though... Where do people tailgate up in Mass?

I have no idea where people tailgate around here. A while ago Umass's basketball team was really good I gather. Otherwise Foxboro on the otherside of the state is the next closest place I can think of.

You car is like your home, if you own an SUV. It's almost as big and you could afford a house in some parts of the country for the same price.

Right, and your SUV functions like a living room if it has a tv anyhow.

I don't mean to be too critical, I mean clearly it takes some effort on the part of parents to decorate the car! Some of the websites also talk about how its great that the parents get to hang out and socialize while the kids are too, because everyone's there in the same place. I just find the concept of driving somewhere in order to create that temporary, safe community so ironic.

I know, right! Plus then its fun for residents too, even if you don't have kids. It gives you more incentive to get into the holiday instead of just ignoring it. I seriously think its a good thing to consider before you choose to live somewhere.
