Blah blah blah festival of pumpkins? So many words. Call me a Delaware girl, but I much prefer the title of our first state's pumpkin festival and tossing - The Pumpkin Chunkin.

I am hoping this haze is the cause of my malaise. Ugh. I should be careful what i wish for- but a few nighttime showers would be nice around now.

I think Pumpkin Chunkin is used in most other areas; that's what we called it in NJ and where I went to high school here in Washington. This event was kind of mis-named. Even Pumpkin Toss would have been better. Besides the hurling of pumpkins and the display of a few at the entrance, I don't feel like this was really a pumpkin festival. There was nothing pumpkin spiced or flavored to be seen.

That was a lot of words about what a pumpkin festival is or isn't.

Hope you guys feel better! <3

To be fair: the "pumpkin hurl" was only one event in a larger "festival of pumpkins".

My only childhood associations with pumpkins involve simple pumpkin patches. No mazes or ballistics. Maybe because of different harvesting seasons in the midwest?
