Yes, exactly. I love how you've shown the essential dynamic of Clark's character on Smallville - what makes him so interesting to watch if you get it. He really just wants to be his father's son (normal) but he can't stop himself from doing things that would betray his powers to anyone who gets too close. Poor lad. No wonder he cried when Lex told him that it was OK.
