I haven't seen Weeds, but I had to stop watching Six Feet Under for the same reason I stopped watching HOUSE. The main characters never ever changed. There was no redemption, or realization of error, or overcoming misfortune and working to better themselves. I come from a ridiculously dysfunctional family, and if I never grew from it, I could be as humorous as I want, but I'd still be in the same place I started. So, I have no desire to watch people learning nothing from their mistakes and misfortunes. It's just not entertaining to me.

So, given what you said above, I probably won't be picking up Weeds then either.

I think the thing about House and Six Feet Under (moreso Six Feet Under) is that the writers don't luxuriate in showing why the characters are bad people. Rather, they build out a more full, 3D character who is flawed. But in the case of Weeds, it seems like an artificial "how bad can we make these characters and still keep it kind of believable" contest. I dunno.
