When I was a kid, my mom got one of those giant Time Life books, in this case one that focused on World War II. Being the complete history buff that I was at the time, I would spend hours just leafing through the photos in that book. There were a lot of memorable photos, as you might expect. The wealthy generally think that it doesn't matter who is in charge. Their lives will go on as they had before, because the privileged will always be so. That said, have you ever seen the film Charlotte Gray? It is about a Scottish woman who joins the French resistance. There is a great scene where she and a colleague are sitting in a French cafe, to all appearances just drinking coffee and gossiping, when in reality they are both spies trying to pass under the radar of the nearby German soldiers. So don't let those ladies fool you: just because they are, right now, sipping coffee at a shop doesn't mean that afterward one of them won't go back to her job at the Alzheimer's Association, or that the other one isn't leaving tomorrow to go clean oil-covered birds in Louisiana. You can never tell!

I tend to be painfully optimistic about humanity. It is both a flaw and a weakness, because I'm usually wrong. LOL
