Responsive Desire

I have always categorized my sex drive as "low". I don't have any particular internalized stigma about it. Sure, I sometimes get frustrated by it, but I've never met anyone whose sex drive worked exactly as they want it to. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I like to think that 'responsive libido' isn't a gender thing, but applies across the board. Perhaps the research was somehow easier with women subjects because it doesn't go against the male stereotypes (Loved the 'turkey timer' analogy!!!!).

Yeah, like most things categorized by gender, I suspect responsive desire also is two overlapping bell curves. My hypothesis would be that it's just that the things men typically respond to, either by biology or conditioning, make it difficult to identify if something is "responsive" or not. Maybe many men really do respond more to visual stimuli so when we think they're having a spontaneous desire spike, it's actually responsive to something, just as an example.
