Someone on Facebook was recently introduced to the term "metamour" and, after hearing the definition of "your partner's other partner", seems to have taken the stance that a metamour relationship is something you have thrust upon you, completely at the whim of the "person in the center". the definition of selfishness requires that the person being selfish put himself at the top of the priority list even when it harms other people

Unless you're Ayn Rand, who wrote an anthology entitled, "The Virtue Of Selfishness". Then again, Rand had the habit (good or bad) of redefining words to suit her purpose.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of hers. Insisting that a word means other than what it means is a common past-time in the poly community, and a huge source of frustration and the reason why people can't communicate with each other.
