Merk's competitor, GlaxoSmithKline has received approval for their rival HPV vaccine, Cervarix.  This is a good thing.  This is where the "free market" and "capitalism" has a place in medicine - the competition should, hopefully, drive consumer prices down to a more affordable and reasonable rate, for those of us without insurance or beyond the

In South Africa, where both vaccines were approved roughly at the same time, Cervarix is about R500 a dose while Gardasil is about R900 a dose.
