*hugs* It sounds like a mess of a situation in more ways than one but you are doing your best and the cat knows he is being loved.

I haven't been reading LJ the last few weeks, and just saw your entry from 8/22 about Loki, so I jumped ahead to see how he was doing now. I'm glad he's still with you, and you're able to keep him fairly comfortable! I hope the weather improves enough for you to take him outside again soon.

It's always hard when you're giving hospice care to a pet. *hugs*

Thanks. My big dream is that some day I will be able to get through a full night uninterrupted (and the cat is still in relatively good condition come morning -- not that I've simply NEGLECTED something in order to sleep) ... but, hey, I'm up at ~4 am, because I had to get up at 3.

The cat was sitting in the bedroom, shaking his head side to side, which makes some noise with the E-cone ... and when he's doing that, it's usually a prelude to him proceeding to trying to tear the cone and -- if possible -- some part of his own head off with his hind paw ... so getting this early warning is a good way for me to forestall that by sweeping him up and cleaning him up preemptively.

But ... when he purrs, when he leans into all the grooming, when he leans his head against my hand, I just want to give him a big hug (I don't, because he wouldn't appreciate that ;) ). He's a sweet little cat. Yeah, it's trouble, but no fault of his. I'm glad that he's sticking around for longer.
