I believe "full auto" is the proper response to those people.

No problem, I was just curious why/how you would be digging around our local public radio station's website.

What on earth were they trying to accomplish?

Were they trying to hurt the Republicans? They could have done a much better job of that if they'd just relocated to the Democratic convention - they could even have retained their name. Were they trying to scare us? Scare us into doing what - not holding conventions? Voting Republican?

I'm kind of amazed that this many people could be corralled into a venture so stupid and pointless - and have their lives altered or ruined by it. Crazy.

They probably see the Republicans as Evil Incarnate, to a degree that any qualms about the legality, constitutionality, or even sanity of what they were trying to do went out the window. Radicals are prone to that sort of group-think.

They're Fantasy Role-playing Gamers who won't admit to it. ladyarkham September 3 2008, 22:45:26 UTC
I can even tell you their game system: Live Star Wars, West End D6 or WOTC D20, take your pick.

They are all playing Luke Skywalker, leading the Good Guy Rebel Alliance against the Evil Empire of Emperor Bushitler, Grand Moff Cheney, and Darth Rove. And since the Evil Empire is so EEEEEEVIL, anything they do is justified. Anything. (Just like Alliance-tards in World of Warcraft.)

Just think of trid/munchkin gamers right out of Knights of the Dinner Table or WoW Alliance-tard griefer gangs and everything falls right into place. Doublepluswarmfeelies/ROFLMAO ROFLMAO ROFLMAO for ME, no matter who gets hurt.

I have lived in Berkeley for 18 years, so I have pondered this a lot. I think committing acts of destruction is exciting and feeling morally righteous is pleasant, so they're combining the two feelings with no care whatsoever for their actual cause.

I recommend "The Good Terrorist" by Doris Lessing, who is a former radical.

That is so frightening! I am all for a harsh crackdown and for punishment to the highest extent of the law. I don't care you are or what message you're trying to get across, this kind of thing cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.

Indeed. The toleration of just that sort of thing is why the Weimar Republic fell to Hitler.

Maybe this will only stop when this country gets a Fuehrer.

Who will Do What Has To Be Done (TM).

Jordan, your American Mandate cannot come too soon for me. My only regret is I'll be too old to join whatever they'll be calling the Einsatzkommandos and give these Concerned & Compassionate Morally Superior Trust Fund Kiddies some REAL payback.

I don't really want to see an "American Mandate" -- but this kind of stupid violent kids playing-at-revolution was one of the causative factors of the Fall of the Republic in my future timeline.

When "Sulla" came, most of these people ended up dead. And amazed that this time, the "fascism" was for real.

Hi Jordan, can I help you string up these buttwipes? They make ordinary and civilized liberals look bad and provide ammunition for people who want to take away our civil liberties.
