It's also worrisome that mainstream reporters didn't take note of this reconstructed history.

Of course they didn't. They probably have no idea themselves, and they wouldn't say so if they did.

If John McCain had said this, every MSM outlet would be on it in a flash and every left-wing website/blog would be holding it up to say "McCain is senile!"

No bias, eh?

Obama is The Messiah, and The Messiah can do no wrong. skyfirefox May 17 2008, 00:01:48 UTC
A lot of bloggers have commented (and are getting creeped out) about the Obamamaniacs staring with awe and love at their Messiah, hanging on his every word ("CHANGE! CHANGE! HOPE! CHANGE! CHANGE! CHANGE!") with trembling lips. See His face! Hear His voice! See His face! Hear His voice! He Loves ME!

It's called "Messiah Politics", when things look crappy and everybody looks to an outsider, a Man on a White Horse who'll ride in and fix all our problems forevermore. St John the Divine described this pattern in his famous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse imagery; the last time we saw it openly in this country was Ross Perot in 1992.

"The last time I met someone this blissed out, he was trying to tell me about the Will of Landru." -- James Lileks, Minneapolis journalist

If Obama had really studied history, he probably wouldn't be a Marxist, would he?

I agree that this is fairly ridiculous. There's also a clip where he said that he's been to 57 states, and hasn't been to only three of the 60 states. But are the other two major candidates any better at history and geography? I highly doubt it. They may just be better at hiding it.

BTW, you're still spelling Barack wrong (it only has one R).

In general, I probably don't like Obama any better than you, but why focus a few LJ entries a week on his faults when the faults of the other two candidates are just as bad? An example of some regarding McCain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OczmGXxmwY

I don't believe that they are. In particular, I believe that McCain is at least a loyal American, while I have my doubts about Obama in that regard.

What makes you think that McCain is a loyal American? I don't get that impression at all from him. Someone who would cheat on his wife and marry a new wife the month after he divorced the old one with the one he was cheating on with (assuming that story is true, which I think it probably is), especially considering how loyal his first wife was to him in waiting for him during all his years of captivity in Vietnam, isn't likely to be loyal to anything.
