"Fluttershy Is Free"

I wrote a fairly unusual fanfic, posted here.  The concept's not entirely original.  What is unusual about it, though, is that there's a lot of genre and mood whiplash, to the point that I don't exactly know as what to classify it.  Gothic horror?  Warm and fuzzy?  Slice of life?  Adventure?  Dark?  Comic

So I'm curious -- is this a warm-and-fuzzy slice of life, a Gothic/Lovecraftian horror story, or a little bit of both? It's in terms of the backstory definitely Gothic (old messed-up family, heroine with a Dark Secret) and even Lovecraftian (wonder and glory forever in the Hive!); but in terms of Fluttershy's reaction to all this she's definitely optimistic -- she won't let herself be defined by half her genetic heritage, she'll live free both of her narrowly-militaristic Pegasus family and the Changeling Hive that sired her, choosing her own identity. And I'm depicting Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's friendship in the warmest and fuzziest possible terms -- even if Fluttershy can't tell her complete story to Rainbow, and Rainbow didn't really believe the part she was told, they still love one another.

So what have I written?

Oh good -- I'm glad that I carried off the effect properly. I was afraid that I'd handled the mood changes poorly.
