Pickman's Model is one of my favorite Lovecraft stories.

It's also one of the ones that connects directly by character into the grand sequence involving Randolph Carter, including "The Testament of Randolph Carter", The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, "The Silver Key," and "Through the Gate of the Silver Key" (the last one by E. Hoffman Price).
