It isn't far-fetched, but rather routine to build a powerful family. If you can't afford to send your kids to the elite private schools, than you can at least take them to the same church, put them on the same little league team, and join the same civic groups. All this co-mingling sets up your offspring to marry strategically. It isn't that hard to establish a dynasty.
