Dec 16, 2009 22:17

Good news for Mexico. Beltran Leyva, the narcoterrorist chief in part responsible for thousands of homicides, was gunned down today by the Mexican Navy, along with several humanoid creatures working for him. Fortunately, no people were killed, and only one Mexican sailor was wounded, in this incident.

Yay!

mexico, crime, terrorism

You know, that's one way to cut down the costs, economic and otherwise, of the drug war: concentrate solely on the distributors. No more 20-year-old college kids stuck in prison for 10-30 years for possession of a joint, no more extreme penalties for a couple of prescription pills, no more crowding the prisons with those commiting victimless crimes, no more shelling out endless amounts of taxpayer money over prosecuting the little guys. :-)

But.. but... that would make sense! You can't have that in laws! That way leads to madne.... no, wait... that way leads to sanity.

Yes, I know. Plus, it would seriously impact the job security now enjoyed by so many DEA types. So the likelihood that it would be employed is zilch.

I knew this was going to happen eventually (Mexican military taking out narcotraficantes) and was getting frustrated at how LONG it was taking. So although I normally lament killing, this gives me a big happy because of all the killing that may stop.

Unless a turf war starts now, of course, which is possible and the source of all the violence on the border.
