Small ramble because I am making no sense on Twitter. An episode of Criminal Minds (The Company) I am watching is portraying a BDSM relationship gone horribly wrong. The Dom involved had physically and emotionally abused his submissive into submitting to him. He has damaged her mentally and physically and made threats against her family if she does ( Read more... )

I wondered if that's what your Twitter note was referring to. The thing that made me most uncomfortable with that ep was that they didn't address the glaring race issue involved.

Generally, CM and CSI have been good with kink issues as compared to other shows. Still, I do find my eyes rolling quite often.

And yes, Garcia was freaking awesome. :)

ARGHHh that epi was almost impossible for me to watch, it will be one I will probably skip on rewatches.

I'm glad they did get the little 'this is not a normal BDSM relationship' in there but yeah, holy hells that was really uncomfortable to watch because it hit a whole bunch of squicks for me.

I always hate it when crime shows use kink as an obvious clue that the person will turn out to be the killer and try to use it as their excuse for killing (if that makes sense).
I think there are some BDSM relationships that become abusive or ppl on the scene who are dicks but you could say that about any group of people. What I object to is when everyone involved in BDSM/kink is shown in a negative light/stereotyped.

Crime shows in general tend not to be kink positive. It is rather annoying when they equate kink with some kind of deviancy.
