A Very Important Amount of Nothing.

Mono's over and I'm enjoying a good round of parties and get-togethers, none of which are awkward for anyone except for those exceptional people who seem to think that every social situation is distinctly and torturously more awkward than the last. This summer THUS FAR has been the summer of mono, wikipedia, music composition, writing, reading and ( Read more... )

Seen it, but great choice. Not nearly enough people see that movie purely because it's old.

Two good Chinese movies:
Raise The Red Lantern (1991), also called Da hong deng long gao gao gua, haha I don't even know how to say that.
The King Of Masks (1996)

Download The Stills' newest album, Without Feathers.

Someone at my office got her tonsils out a few weeks ago, and apparently it is a very painful procedure, even with painkillers. But hey, you won't be sick so much now!

I'm stealing the album, especially since I think it's named after an amazing book by Woody Allen. It turns out it wasn't that bad, at least in comparison to mono or any of the times I got really sick this year. Part of this, of course, is because I always forgot to take painkillers on my own when I was sick whereas modern surgical procedures are 90% anesthesiology. They give you an antibiotic, then a drug so you don't throw up the antibiotic while you're under, then a drug to make you not feel bad about taking the drug that makes you not throw up. Then for the IV they put a topical numbing cream followed by a small injetion to numb your hand (lidocaine) all before they actually put the IV into your veins. I mean, not that I don't appreciate it, but it just seemed like, for a "minor" procedure this was a hypohondriac's trip to the candy shop.

Glad to hear you're on your feet (for a while).

Hope your summer keeps going well.

I've been having the same concern about the almost-masturbatory career path I've started following--we should discuss sometime.

Tuckermax.com is pretty funny.

I'll be sure to dial you the next time I'm boarding the red-eye flight to Blackoutsville.

Yeah, I'm back off my feet now since I had the procedure this morning, but at least I'm now taking an express flight to hydrocodonestowne. Doesn't really have the same ring. I definitely want to hear from drunk/stoned jim sometime though, or, if you prefer, "the cool jim".
