When you make a mistake...

A long, long time ago, back when I still had hair, and young people listened to good music that wasn't too loud, my old gran gave me this excellent advice:

"When it comes to stupid mistakes, boy, the first thing to remember is 'Don't make 'em.' But since that's really not going to be an option in your case, I'd better teach you what to do when you ( Read more... )

The fact that you can be relied on to do the right thing is one of the reasons that LJ folk hold in you in such high esteem.

What I've observed, as a member of the Fifty-something club, is that my error rate is increasing. So I spend ever more of my steadily diminishing time checking for mistakes that I have made or might be about to make. And I'm not just talking about writing! (Sigh)

Para One is quite true, yes.

And Para Two reminds me of, perhaps, the best line from
Brideshead Revisited:
You'll find you spend most of your Sophomore year losing the friends you made as a Freshman.

Thanks, Vaughan. It wasn't my first mistake, and it sure as heck won't be my last, that's for sure :)

Ah. For a moment there, I thought you'd mistakenly salted your tea. At least this one is correctable, right? The salt would be a waste of good tea.

Unless, of course, you're one of those people who actually likes salty tea.

I haven't done that lately :)

Last time I did that (with coffee), it was a silly, pre-pubescent prank gone awry. You could say, that prank was so last century.

My brain is currently fogged with new job and spring allergens; I certainly understand how that can happen.

But now I wonder which other story I supposedly wrote, for a day! I'll have to go look, since I didn't make it through LJ yesterday.

I fixed it already. I'd accidentally put you down as writing Christine Lucas's QUEEN OF FROGS AND MOLLUSCS :(

I only ghost-wrote this. You can see the real writer in my icon. :p

It's understandable then. I can easily see myself writing a story suitable for that title!

I had noticed what appeared to be a small booboo,
but thought it best to let those more tactful than I
point out to you...

That is good advice from the old bat, my friend. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who will not accept responsibility for their actions. Grrrr...
