I have an old hardcover copy of Jonathon Livingston Seagull that was my father's when he was my age. I love introducing people to the book, but I usually buy a soft cover version to lend them and often times wind up giving it to them. However I have never lent my personal copy...until now. I was in the same boat a few years ago: I'd kept my father's copy of the book safely tucked in my personal library, while I would gladly buy copies for friends and even sometimes strangers.

Then I lent it to someone I cared a lot about. Time went by, and he kept the book when we parted ways. Here I was, without my beloved copy.

But I realized after the initial anger that it was my attachment to my father and my attachment to the message that mattered: the thing itself was just a symbol. So, I bought a new copy. Overall, I feel good about the whole thing.

Messiah's Handbook is delightful, especially when I just need a quick moment's peace. I also reccomend the Conversations With God series by Neale Donald Walsch. He used Bach as a springboard, and I love the series so far. I hope you'll pick it up and read it as well.

I still have my old hard cover JLS. I love the semi-transparent photo pages of birds in flight. It give a wonderful illusion of movement.
