It's Not Lazy, It's Labour Saving

Well, it's been a full week since the Headline blogger/review meet-up thing, and I haven't said a word about it beyond admitting on Twitter that I neither got drunk nor hit anyone. Not very rock'n'roll of me, I know, and I apologise for that.

Anyway, the bloggy folk have covered it in detail, and by the miracle of hypertext, I shall link you to ( Read more... )

By jiminy, that's drinkin' an' fightin' talk!

Oh, wait. No, it isn't. An ARC is an Advance Reading Copy, a sort of penultimate draft in that small changes can still be made as long as they don't mess up the page count. ARCs look a lot like trade paperback edition except they have a disclaimer saying that it's not quite the final version, and they are not for sale. They go out to retail book buyers, book sellers, retail chains, and usually to reviewers.

There's a Wiki entry that goes into more detail here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_reading_copy

So...how much do you want?
No but seiously i really want to read it..
I´m thinking about buying the english version instead of the german version just so i don´t have to wait that long but, i don´t know, what do you think, is it too hard to understand if english is not your first language?
Probably just gonna buy both :)

(Btw, did you see Alice in Wonderland? I don´t know why but i kinda wanna know)

Oh, more pictures. nishiakariokami April 26 2010, 04:54:19 UTC
Hullo,

Just thought I'd let you know that I posted a bit more art over here on the Cabal Cabal.

(Among other things a coloured version of what you saw before, and this, which in some ways has little to do with anything (besides my reading too much Conan Doyle), but I like how the style turned out quite a bit. The touches of weird just kept creeping in.)

Anyway, best of luck on the many projects! Also the fact there are ARCs does indeed make it that much harder to wait.

I was just over at Deviant Art, envying folk who have progressed beyond stick men (i.e. my graphical limit), and searched on "Johannes Cabal." It's exciting and humbling to see how he has inspired such creativity.

Of yours, Ilyana, I very much like the one with Johannes playing the violin (incidentally, don't be silly -- it's an impossibility to read too much Conan Doyle). I have wondered myself what sort of instrument he would play, and it comes down to the piano and the violin. Of the two, the violin is the more likely as it is an instrument through which every emotion can be expressed. For Herr Cabal with his passions in a straitjacket, it would present a vital safety valve.

Returning to the picture, I also like all the little elements drawn from the stories making appearances, right down to the mousetrap. I think I might have to sort out a little art gallery entry on LJ one of these days, using both work created specifically for and inspired by the stories.
