Another Encouragement/Touch Base Post

The name of the game is definitely busy. If we're not all distracted by school, it's work. If it's not work, it's travel. Still, you guys mentioned that you'd like a chance to have a discussion post. So consider this your chance to vent, commiserate, and throw things out to see what sticks. I'll try to get the ball rolling myself ( Read more... )

I'm done just waiting for my Beta
:/

BUT my boredom/anxiety while waiting turned into something somewhat productive for my fic?

Look at you! Being done with time to spare to do some extra credit. Amazing!

lol I never thought about it that way
-shrugs-

I actually didn't think I'd have it done on time, I had to give my plot like....reconstructive surgery. It failed and I was like okayyyy let me completely reshape the plot so it works. But I was like 'if I write x amount of words a day' and just tried to keep myself motivated. Got stuck and went back and edited previous areas, etc. I'd go back to the last place it really flowed from and add something, re-wrote some parts completely, it was brutal. The pic was just for fun.

My biggest problem with getting my own story done for the challenge I put on is a lack of focus. There's so much going on in real life and the boys are so busy being amazing and adorable in Europe that it's difficult to be like, "Oh right, AU."

I know that when I put my mind to things I can get about 1k to 2k written a night but instead I've been fussing with my journal, making budgets, and squeeing about how Joe loves Banana girls.

It's just a classic case of from pain will come pleasure. It's not fun to force myself to write, but the glee at having the JoBros involved in a bunch of silly romance plots will last quite a bit longer than the time it takes to write it. I just love instant gratification so much!

No, forcing yourself to write isn't fun, that's why if this fic was making me feel like I was forcing the words, I tried to take a break and do something else. I know I've been balancing work, a social life, etc and to be honest when I first started writing I didn't know if I would have to withdraw or not, THAT was how insecure I was feeling about my fic.

But inspiration hit and instead of letting work suffer (although I wrote during lunch when I could shhh) I let sleep suffer for the most part.

I can't WAIT to read all the fics that are going to come out of this!

AND WHAT IS WITH THE MATCHING OUTFITS LATELY? I think they are trying to kill me, seriously. :/

Haha instant gratification is always good, but think of how great this is going to be after waiting so long! I'm just worried about everyone posting their fics all at the same time. x_x so much reading and flooding of the f-list/comms.

I want to pot mine already, but it needs the Beta process.

I've had to scale myself back. I originally wanted like, 15k on this thing, and now I've decided that 7k is more realistic. My other issue is just making time to do it--I've been working on it in theory for 3 weeks, but really I've only written like, 2 hrs a day on 5 days. I'm also kind of generally unhappy with what I've got, but I had an idea just this morning of how to keep it make it better without actually trashing any of it.

So, yeah, I can probably finish on time, I just worry of how it's gonna turn out. I'm not in the panicking stage or anything, so it's all good.

Well I'm glad you're not panicking. I am a little! I'm really hoping people are still excited about this challenge. These kinds of fic are a personal favorite of mine.

I'm having the same problem with devoting time. It's like I keep hoping elves will sneak in during the night and write it for me.

I hope you're hit your stride with it! Good luck! :)

I don't think I'll ever be able to even write mine out. I had it planned, great, fine, but actually sitting down to get it out is just...not working for me. :/

That's a shame! There are unclaimed prompts if you want to try a fresh new idea?

I'm almost out on my winter break and I'll see if I can get it started. I'm feeling like a failure. :(

Don't feel like that! I'm the moderator of this challenge and I'm way behind! It's all good, trust me!

I thought it was due the 6th, too
I checked the first posts again as well
was this changed or just a typo?

just write, writing ANYTHING helps, even if it's unrelated just get going and it'll be easier to write in general.

I think you can write any pairing as long as it includes a member of JB ending up with another guy in the jonas/disney verse? idk...I could be wrong...

Maybe, erm, most people prefer those pairings? I know I prefer certain pairings over others, but I'm still planning on at least reading all the fics written for this...or starting them and if I can't finish them that's another story...

But I'm looking forward to reading them!

ughhh random note:
the calendar in 2043 is exactly the same as 2009
like
Halloween will be a sat
I had to look this up for my fic I was like
