The amended version is significantly less reassuring in the event that I get stuck on a math problem.

To be fair, Beth is perfectly capable of solving that kind of problem, but I've been practicing more math recently.

After I read this, I got a very funny image in my head. What came to mind is one of those extremely curvaceous cartoon characters (like Jessica Rabbit), using her feminine wiles on some cute geeky character with a pocket protector and slide rule. It is very obvious that the Fem Fatale is NOT especially afraid of anything (and probably has not problem figuring anything out herself), but seems to be enjoying turning the poor male critter into a quivering jelly.

Jessica: "I'm not afraid of partial differential equations...especially if I have a big, strong brain like yours to protect me."
