Yep, that was the first book. If you can find it, you should give the English version a try. I would guess that too many things would be lost in translation in the Norwegian version. English is a crazy language to begin with and some of the 'feel' of the book would no doubt change when translated into a different language. (not that I've read many translated books. This is just a guess. English is obviously my primary language but I do know a considerable amount of french as well.)
