OK folks!

In writing a note tonight I had to write a word I usually try and avoid.  I avoid it because I always have issues spelling it.  The word is "necessary", and all its forms.  Very few words cause me to stumble like this one does, but it always makes me have to look up the spelling.  Spelling annoys me.  Proper grammar I can flubb through most of the ( Read more... )

The word that trips me up - but only phonetically - is 'statistics'. I have to stop, think about it, and then say it very slowly and carefully. (I usually leave it as 'statics'.)

Oddley enough, license, necessary, and definately/ultimately all give me problems. Have to think about them and usually respell them. To pronounce, "library" gives me a moment. It's the "brar" part. ALso, although it was on our list of difficult words, and I did know how to spell it at one time "diarrhea" always gives me trouble.(when discussing small children that, barf, and snot, come up in conversation a lot :-) )

My all time favourite word to spell is phlegm...because it spells nothing like it sounds. I have seen MANY people spell it flem. I really enjoyed teaching that one to my kids. :)
