In approximately 3 hours I will have fulfilled my promise to myself of one year of singlehood. I'm not saying I haven't dated; I've dated several great guys and I've learned a lot about myself and other people. But no serious committed relationships. Yeah, the one-year breakup anniversary sounds a little morbid, but I do understand remembering the date.

As one who's been single for the better part of 10 years (since the first 13 don't really count and since I was attached for a short period of time), I guess I would like to say a few things.

First, I'm glad that you stuck to your promise. I'm also glad you learned a few things. If there is one thing I know from being single (and something I've noticed from someone else close to me who has been single for some time), it's that it teaches you what you want out of life and that you indeed learn about yourself.

I guess I would just say be careful and don't get in too big of a hurry. Singlehood is not always too bad.

I don't want to sound like a pessimist. I'm just saying be careful. I'm sure you'll be fine, but I just didn't want you to fall to fast again. Patience is always good. Just my 2¢.
