Please stop with the 'white-man/woman-in-exotic-countries' trope. Please stop with the patronizing and condescension. Please stop making documentaries with the (white, male) gaze.
You know, I like National Geographic because of all the cool science articles, but I know what you mean about the patronizing attitude WRT non-American/European cultures. I like the documentaries for what they show about other places and other people, but they can lose the 19th century titillation some of the stuff promotes.
I think that were you, and a number of your compatriots, to write to the editors, publishers and backers of NG, they might take a look at their antiquated policies in regard to other cultures. And I truly believe that coming from you and your countrymen, it would make more of an impression on them because they might see how widespread their magazine is.
Rant at them, but let them know in no uncertain terms, that their antiquated attitude sucks little blue wienies.
